A journey that began five decades ago in Cochin comes back a full circle.

In the early 1980s, Ajith Sundaresh was the winner of the prestigious Kerala Sangeeta Nataka Academy award - bagging the first place in the entire state for Mridangam. Around the same time, he had also given performances for All India Radio - Trivandrum. He was barely 15 when he accomplished both these feats in carnatic music.

 

He then focused on academics, and went on to have a flourishing corporate career across the world. He held senior leadership positions, including that of MD and CFO and Head of Global Finance Delivery for large global banks such as J P Morgan Chase, Deutsche Bank, NatWest Group and Wells Fargo bank. Though he still kept in touch with his music amidst his busy schedules by giving sporadic performances, in early 2024 he retired from his corporate life, and replaced his business suits with the kurtas of a performer.

 

His vision to brew original music and path breaking performances led to Fusion Kaapi.

Creative Director Raman Iyer (Former member, Neeraj Arya’s Kabir Cafe), Fusion Kaapi weaves stories and music around the fabric of carnatic music (Hence Kaapi - the quintessential flavour of the South).

 

Ajith & Raman are joined by Maharashtra State Award Winning Composer, Lyricist & Singer KC Loy,  the voice behind several advertisements, albums & films - Saloni Desai,  a highly sought after guitarist and the founder member of the Prog Rock Band Coshish - Shrikant Sreenivasan & a percussionist who has accompanied some of the biggest singers in the country - Aditya Kudtarkar.
